Geoff Dyer: Archibald Prize Winner at MiCK
Sydney’s newest contemporary art space, MiCK, will host a new body of work from Archibald prize winner Geoff Dyer.
Focused on the wild, untouched area of the Tasmanian West Coast, Dyer showcases his love for the Tasmanian wildness in this collection.
Dyer an Archibald Prize finalist 10 times likes to choose fellow Tasmanians as his sitters for the Archibald such as his friend Richard Flanagan who was the subject of his winning entry in 2003. In 2011 Dyer was an Archibald finalist with a portrait of David Walsh, owner and creator of Tasmania’s controversial MONA.
MiCK is an inspired new contemporary gallery space located in Sydney, Australia. The gallery exhibits contemporary and emerging artists on the ground floor; Private Treaty works by Australian artists on the first floor and a unique sculpture garden at the rear of the Gallery showing local and international artists in conjunction with Sculpture by the Sea. MiCK is the vision of its Director, Megan Dick, who has more than ten years experience in the arts.
The exhibition will run from Monday 30 January 2012 – Sunday 26 February 2012.
