Juan Pedro Lopez AW/13
Juan Pedro Lopez‘s AW13/14 collection, Part XIV, is a contrast of the bold and delicate.
The Part XIV Collection was inspired by the sculptures of Russian Constructivists Gabo and Pevsner. The sculptors pioneered kinetic art creating the illusion of movement by curving metal and perspex. Despite the harsh materials, the use of wire strings creates fragility in some of Gabo’s and Pevsner’s works.
The contradiction of harsh materials and delicacy has clearly influenced Lopez’s collection, structured cuts appear against the detail of sheer fabrics. Patches of block primary colours are seen on belts, sleeves and bags, whilst neutral transparent fabrics conceal bold shining red pants (pictured).
Juan Pedro Lopez showed his AW13/14 collection at the Barcelona Design Museum.
