Art Brussels An Art City
Art Brussels, contemporary art fair is a celebration of world-class art from around the globe, the 2013 fair will celebrate space and challenges the design of traditional art fairs.
The transformation of the fair expresses a creative and adventurous way of presenting art, appealing to visitors to engage with the environment, not just the art. Belgian designer Tom Mares, in collaboration with Walt van Beek, reconsidered the way people interact with a major fair to create a new design and scenography.
Mares’ concept for Art Brussels 2013 was to create an ‘Art City’. Upon arrival at the event, visitors will go through an airport-style check-in lobby before entering the fair. At that point, the journey within the Art City truly begins; colourful ground marks lead people to their destination. Visitors will experience different atmospheres similar to the diversity of a city.
The Cinema, The Stage, and First Call Square are landmarks visible from a distance, reminiscent of a physical city. The Stage, a specially designed amphitheatre, will be the creative heart of the fair where people will gather to discuss and exchange ideas, plans and visions.
The 31st edition of Art Brussels will run from Thursday 18 April until Tuesday 21 April 2013 in Belgium.
