100% Design: Russian Pavilion
For the very first time at 100% Design London a Russian Pavilion will feature.
The Pavilion communicates that Russian design exists not only in the iconic traditional artisan objects, such as Matryoshka dolls or ancient Khokhloma wood tableware, but also in commercial products. The Pavilion will showcase a selection of furniture, porcelaine and crystal sets, lamps and fashion accessories.
Established and emerging designers who are presenting work at the Pavilion include:
Dima Loginoff: The interior and product designer has worked for world famous brands such as VitrA, Microsoft, and Elle Decoration. Loginoff will present his product ‘Kisses Sofa’.
Polina Privalova: A young designer from Moscow, will display the Bundle armchair, a multipurpose chair that is perfect both for outdoors and home interiors.
Nikolay Nikitin: Designed for StoryStore Flex Shelf is a bookshelf consisting of segments of various lengths and colors made of ash-tree. Connecting hinged segments allow to create an infinite number of choices of tracks.
Ilya Tkach: An industrial and product designer, will present his Magnon Lamp. Consisting of only two parts – a metal base and wooden brick with a magnet inside – the lamp’s elements are connected by magnetic force and can be moved along each other as required.
Mikhail Belyaev: A rising multidisciplinary designer from Saint Petersburg, Belyaev has reflected on Russia’s visual history and created a shelf that is based on Kazimir Malevich’s 1915 painting, Black Square.
The Russian Design Pavilion is on display as part of the International Pavilions series at 100% Design London from Wednesday 18 – Saturday 21 September 2013.
