Alexander McQueen and Damien Hirst
An exclusive series of scarves have been designed by Damien Hirst to celebrate ten years of Alexander McQueen’s iconic skull scarves.
The collection is adapted from Hirst’s Entomology series, which he began working on in 2009. The Entomology series is comprised of a series of paintings and cabinets that feature bugs and entomological specimens arranged in kaleidoscopic patterns. Hirst creates the paintings by using the insects as a material, painting them and applying them to the surface.
The Entomology series has been adapted and applied to a series of thirty unique cashmere and silk scarves that form the Alexander McQueen collection. The insects have been arranged to form Alexander McQueen’s iconic skull image in a series of detailed symetrical images. The collaboration plays to the pair’s shared interest in the natural world.
The scarves are available exclusively online and in Alexander McQueen boutiques.
