Aesop: A Futurist Assembly
Aesop’s ‘Futurist Assembly’ seasonal gift sets, explore the passion, rebellion and influence of the Italian Futurists.
The Futurist movement took place in the early 20th century and was defined by its ambitions to transform the views of the nation. Originating in Italy, the Futurists possessed a desire for the ‘new’. Lead by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti the Futurists were anti-tradition and claimed to “want no part of it, the past.”
Aesop’s gift sets each provide an insight into a different facet of the movement. The set collections include:
- Agility: Focused on Futurist sculpture and its desire to remove the traditional styles of forms and materials. The set includes Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser, Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm and Rosehip Seed Lip Cream.
- Alacrity: Futurist theatre is explored through the Alacrity set, which includes Fabulous Face Cleanser, B & Tea Balancing Toner, Purifying Facial Exfoliant Paste and Mandarin Facial Hydrating Cream.
- Intensity: The movement and intensity of Futurist painting defines the theme of the Intensity set. Moroccan Neroli Post-Shave Lotion, Deodorant and Coriander Seed Body Cleanser are featured in the set.
- Potency: The Futurists also aimed to transform the world through architecture, the basis of the Potency set. The set contains Parsley Seed Facial Cleanser, Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Toner and Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Hydrator.
- Sonority: Investigating new mechanisms to produce sound, the Futurists pushed the boundaries of music. The music themed set includes Resurrection Aromatique Hand, Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm, Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser and Rind Concentrate Body Balm.
- Tactility: Touching on Gastronomy, the Futurists proposed radical ideas for dining such as eating without cutlery. A Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser, Geranium Leaf Body Scrub and Geranium Leaf Body Balm make up the set.
