Celebrating Crystalactite
A new installation by Baptiste Debombourg has been created for an event that will present Maison Martin Margiela and Swarovski’s recent ‘Crystalactite’ collection. It will be revealed during Art Basel Miami.
Debombourg’s unique site-specific installation is inspired by the notion of fusion. The installation, titled ‘Stalker’ uses laminated glass, in order to reference stalactites and create harmony with the Maison Martin Margiela and Swarovski ‘Crystalactite’ collection. Debombourg has an ongoing partnership with Maison Martin Margiela, recreating his famous ‘Turbo’ installation in Maison Martin Margiela’s Grenelle, Paris Boutique for Parcours Saint-Germain.
The ‘Crystalactite’ collection is a blend of Swarovski’s classic style and Maison Martin Margiela’s futuristic approach to design and is based on Maison Martin Margiela’s July 2013 Haute Couture collection. Comprising of three key pieces (a pendant, a ring and a bracelet), the collection was created used a Crystal Fusion Technique, merging crystal with white resin before cutting the crystal.
Debombourg’s installation will be revealed on Thursday 5 December in Maison Martin Margiela’s Miami boutique located at Suite 101, Melin Building, 3930 NE 2nd Avenue.
