Diane von Furstenberg utilised the runway for presentation and celebration of her AW14 collection at New York Fashion Week.
The collection featured a vast array of silhouettes, from cuts that flattered the female form to oversized embroidered coats. Patterns were also diverse, with knits adorned with bold motifs and evoking the designs of the 1970s designs – the founding years of Furstenberg’s career.
Forty years of her iconic wrap dress was celebrated as the key element of the show, possessing a metallic glow and an elegant power. The prominence of the wrap dress within the show highlighted its strength as a piece of design, withstanding 40 years of changes in trends, technology and fabrics. Embodying the changes for women over this time, the contemporary piece has formed its position as an icon.
