Milan Fashion Week AW14/15: A Wrap Up
fluoro reflects on the design diversity of the collections from four brands at Milan Fashion Week AW14/15.
Moschino
Jeremy Scott presented a humorous and playful debut for Moschino, presenting a collection bursting with motifs from American pop culture. References included fast food chain McDonalds, SpongeBob SquarePants and Budweiser, resulting in a collection that spoke of contemporary culture. Scott is known for his witty graphics, so it was no surprise that he brought this language to Moschino. The show closed with a series of gowns that resembled junk food.
Antonio Marras
The Antonio Marras AW14/15 collection evoked colours and symbols associated with a forest. Wolf motifs were applied throughout, particularly to the lower sections of dresses, where they appeared to ‘howl’ up at the wearer. Floral patterns were used on boldly knitted cardigans and skirts; and shades of pink and soft wide-leg pants brought lightness to the otherwise dark collection.
Giorgio Armani
The muted colour palette of Giorgio Armani’s AW14/15 collection reflected it’s title ‘Fade to Grey’. Tailoring was relaxed and featured long jackets worn over loose trousers and skirts in a style that remained elegant. Armani instilled shades of lime green into the collection that added colour which complimented the grey.
Massimo Rebecchi
Brining lightness to the week, Massimo Rebecchi’s collection featured a palette of pastel blues, pinks and creams. Cream knits were worn casually tied around the models’ waists and baby blue jackets hung loosely over structured skirts and tops. In a departure from the overall softness of the collection, a series of voluminous jackets were crafted from various shades of fur.
Milan Fashion Week will return for the Spring Summer season from Wednesday 17 – Tuesday 23 September 2014.
