SS15 Menswear: From London to Milan
As London Collections: Men concludes for the SS15 Menswear season, we reflect on its presence and strength, while looking forward to Milan.
The London SS15 Menswear season was one of aesthetic confidence, with collections ranging from the structured and bold; to collections with an evident street approach; and the pop infused.
Japanese design was referenced at each end of the design spectrum. From the bright symbolism of Jeremy Scott’s first collection for Moschino – which featured Emojis and an explosion of logos – to the structured kimonos seen in the form of wrap coats at Agi & Sam. Craig Green’s collection also referenced elements of traditional samurai costume, with loose paints paired with matching jackets, which tied to close.
The language of street wear was increasingly present, with collections retaining quintessential British style. Burberry’s vibrant and tailored SS15 garments were paired with multicoloured sneakers. While Lee Roach also retained structure, however jackets appeared without colours and were worn over t-shirts. Hooded spray jackets in this collection, were placed with tailored pants. The accessories from Paul Smith’s collection remained the epitome of the British accent, with a mix of styles, colours and tone.
Despite the inclusion of notes of street wear, colour palettes of British blues, whites and beiges were prominent in the presentations seen across the three days.
