Haute Couture AW14/15: Versace and Schiaparelli
The Versace and Schiaparelli Haute Couture AW14/15 collections at Paris Fashion Week spoke strongly of the Houses’ visual language and history.
The Versace Haute Couture AW14/15 collection focused on evening wear, bringing a Versace touch to the garments. Inspired by the silhouettes of the 1950s, corsets were seen throughout and were studded with Swarovski crystals, sparkling in the dimly lit presentation. The fine mesh crafted by Swarovski also brought detail to the garments, highlighting the intricate craftsmanship of the collection. The rich and deep autumn colours of the garments evoked a further sense of style and elegance. Notable garments included a series of hybrid items, which were part trouser and part dress, with a long-leg trouser accompanied by a sweeping skirt.
Marco Zanini’s second collection for Schiaparelli brought the eclectic personality of the brand’s founder Elsa Schiaparelli, to life. The garments were vibrant and brought the foundations of surrealism to the runway. Models wore long patterned voluminous dresses accompanied by feather hats and knotted scarves. A party hat was an unconventional choice for the Haute Couture season, which complimented the unique legacy of Schiaparelli. A backdrop of a curtain in Shocking Pink was a nod to heritage of the Schiaparelli House and the colour that Elsa Schiaparelli introduced during the 1930s.
Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture AW 14/15 continues until Friday 11 July 2014. fluoro will be providing coverage throughout the week.
