Louis Vuitton: Celebrating the Monogram
Louis Vuitton is set to launch a collection titled Celebrating the Monogram, which features a series of collaborations with six design leaders.
From architecture to performance art, the fields of the selected designers are diverse. Named by Louis Vuitton as the iconoclasts, each of the six creatives has designed a bag that puts their own spin on the iconic monogram. The six designers include Christian Louboutin, Cindy Sherman, Frank Gehry, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Newson and Rei Kawakubo.
Each designer has brought his or her unique experience forward in the development of the bag. For example, Gehry’s bag is sculptural and smooth, bringing elements that are seen in his building designs to fashion. While Cindy Sherman’s, steamer trunk is playful and includes a vanity and stool.
The Celebrating the Monogram collection launches officially on Wednesday 15 October 2014.
