Paul Smith X Led Zeppelin
Marking the launch of the first phase of Led Zeppelin’s re-mastered nine studio albums, Paul Smith has collaborated with the band on a range of limited edition scarves. fluoro has been given exclusive access to a selection of images that have not yet been released in Australia.
Paul Smith’s love for music continues to come to life through the design of his clothing and accessory collections. This latest collaboration is no exception.
The design of first three Led Zeppelin album covers– Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II and Led Zeppelin III – has been reinterpreted on three different scarves, each being created with a variety of techniques. A photographic weaving technique has been employed for the largely monochromatic Led Zeppelin, with the red detail being added using a fine fil coupe yarn. The eight colours of the Led Zeppelin II artwork demanded an alternative approach and four different quality yarns were combined to reflect the richness of the colourful design. The psychedelia of Led Zeppelin III is depicted with a combination of boucle and merino wool to exquisite effect.
Images from the not yet released Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy have been jacquard woven onto two further scarves and a brand new spectacular design has been created for a sixth scarf.
There are 50 of each limited edition scarf available which will be available for purchase online and from Paul Smith Albemarle Street, London from Thursday 23 October 2014. Each scarf retails at AUD$665.
