Paris Magnum
The immortalisation of Paris captured through 80 years of the photographic lenses by some of the worlds greatest photojournalists will be featured at Paris Magnum.
A total of 150 shots will be the focus of this exhibition from artists like Henri Cartier Bresson, Robert Capa, George Rodger and David “Chim” Seymour. The photos are said to reveal the cities grand gestures, its revolts and its struggles, its hopes and its victories, without ignoring the suffering and passion.
Magnum Photos, who are behind Paris Magnum, is known to be one of the first outlets to lay claim to their photography and forge a path forward for photojournalism around the world. The photographers from Magnum Photos were themselves documenters of crucial changes in the world around us, from political, war and societal issues in the 20th century. Paris lent itself to this documentation style from the Front Populaire of the 1930s to the post war period, and to the 1968 pop years and on.
As Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris notes, “Under the lenses of legendary photographers from Magnum Photos, Paris reveals and makes sense of itself.”
The exhibition will run until Saturday 28 March 2015 at Paris City Hall, France.
