art on paper
From the producers of Miami Project, Art Market Productions presents art on paper, an art fair that brings the best in modern and contemporary art to downtown Manhattan, New York City.
Curated by Art Market Production’s director Max Fishko, artistic director Sasha Wolf, and art on paper’s selection committee, the fair will present a fascinating paper-work collection from dealers and artists from around the world who look to paper as their major source of influence. Representing 70 exhibiting galleries, such as Art Vitam, JHB Gallery, L Parker Stephenson, Richard Levy Gallery, Galerie 103, Clamp Art, Forum Gallery and Sasha Wolf Gallery, the fair will feature an innovative variety of paper art from sculptures, installations, drawings and paintings to photography. As such, art on paper is a new type of art fair as it focuses on one medium as a means of communication and conversation.
Among the projects and installations that will be on display is an installation by Electronic Works of larger than life reproductions of Dave Eggers’ drawings of animals questioning their existence or driven by a biblical cause. Another installation will be presented by Joshua Liner Gallery. It will feature Wayne White’s FOE, a collection of large scale puppets created for York College’s Marketview Arts building. The installation, which accounts for a confederate raid that happened in York, is named after the building’s original use as the home of Fraternal Organization of Eagles.
In bringing the fair to life, art on paper worked alongside the Hudson River Park Trust, a supporter of public art. Being the longest waterfront park in the USA, Hudson River Park has played host to a range of contemporary sculpture and site-based installations set up against the waterfront and art on paper represents the latest addition to the Park’s artistic support. art on paper are also partners with the Brooklyn Museum, known to be a hub among creative and diverse urban centres across the world, to enhance the fair’s integration into the art community in New York City.
art on paper starts today and will conclude on Sunday 8 March 2015.
