Björk: Music Innovation
Björk releases a 360-degree virtual reality, interactive music video for the Vulnicura track Stonemilker.
An innovator in music, Björk has always amazed and astonished the world with her creations from her musical style to her creative costumes. Her recent music video follows this innovative nature as it presents a unique interactive, panoramic video that allows viewers to navigate their vision by dragging the mouse around the window.
Shot by award-winning director Andrew Thomas Huang the video allows viewers to explore the cold Icelandic beach where the song was originally written. Standing tall in a fluorescent dress contrasting the dark surroundings is Björk with a shimmering patch on her chest resembling the style of the Vulnicura album cover.
The video spins around in panoramic circles, which according to the artist “matches the cyclical fugue like movement in the song.” Björk further expresses that “If the song has a shape it is sort of like a circle that just goes on forever.”
The interactive video for Stonemilker debuted at MoMA museum in New York with an in-person installation. Read more about the extensive Björk retrospective exhibition at MoMA here.
