Women He’s Undressed: World Premiere
The 62nd Sydney Film Festival presents the world premiere of Women He’s Undressed, a film by Gillian Armstrong, which portrays the life of Academy Award winning Australian designer Orry-Kelly.
Although fairly unknown in his home country, Kelly was behind numerous wardrobes of the silver screen from the 1930s to the 1960s. He was known for his daring, bold and confident work and dressed some of most celebrated actors and actresses including Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart. His work was also presented in some of Hollywood’s most prominent studios and most popular films including Some Like it Hot and An American in Paris. His creations and talent won him three Academy Awards for the films An American in Paris, Les Girls and Some Like It Hot.
Women He’s Undressed presents an insightful, behind the scenes review of the extraordinary life of Kelly. Forming part of his story are a wide range of interviews including costume designers Ann Roth and Catherine Martin and actress Jane Fonda among many others.
Paying tribute to the legend the film will be the first to be presented on a ship in Australia. Through collaboration between Sydney Film Festival and Princess Cruises it will be presented with an on-deck celebration followed by a screening in the Sun Princess Theatre on Wednesday 10 June 2015.
The film will be released in Australia on Thursday 16 July 2015.
