Chanel Haute Couture AW13/14
The Chanel Haute Couture AW13/14 collection explored the contrast of old and new. The runway took place at the Grand Palais, Paris which was transformed to represent a deconstructed and dilapidated theatre with a stage featuring the backdrop of a futuristic virtual city.
The collection displayed a palette of white and black with hints of gray, dark blue, beige and light pink. The allure of this season is defined by the play of a juxtaposition of layers, with the dresses, tunics and jackets working together as a trio. A belt made from ribbon tweed, suede, tulle or silk defined each silhouette.
Skirts and dresses in the collection were tiled with crystals and painted with geometric shapes to create a hypnotic vision. A slight sense of grunge was infused throughout the collection as boots were worn both with delicate long dresses and layered under mini skirts.
Chanel’s ability to create an infinite modernity was clear throughout the collection.
