Barber & Osgerby: Double Space
For the London Design Festival, British designers Barber & Osgerby in collaboration with BMW created an installation titled Double Space.
Barber & Osgerby is composed of Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, two designers who are fascinated by aeronautical, automotive and maritime engineering, and the interplay between movement, performance and scale. They have incorporated these passions into their most recent project – and largest to date – with BMW at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Double Space for BMW is comprised of two enormous, reflective silver elements suspended from the ceiling space. The huge reflective panels rotate in a series of choreographed movements. The result allows a completely new way of viewing the classical architecture and beautiful cartoons.
The project was commissioned by BMW and London Design Festival 2014 and was constructed in the Raphael Gallery of the Victoria and Albert Museum. The London Design Festival will return in 2015, view our coverage of the 2014 event here.
