Dover Street Market New York: 2015 Revamp
Following a 3-day, US$120,000 revamp, Dover Street Market in New York, opens its doors to fashion with new additions and a refurbished space.
Additions include permanent shops for Idea Books, Prada, and Miu Miu. The Prada display, which is decorated with a rainbow mural, holds the brand’s SS15 fashion collection including a coated-resin raincoat exclusive to Dover Street Market New York.
Among the new spaces is also a Comme des Garçons display decorated by the brand’s creative director and Dover Street Market founder, Rei Kawakubo. Red objects from the brand’s spring fashion collection, Blood and roses, are incorporated in the decoration, the Noir Kei Ninomiya display featuring a black metal cage that holds the pieces of the collection, and the Simone Rocha display, which have been moved to the third floor and redesigned to incorporate Lucite shelves and wall covered in laminated lace doilies.
In addition to new shops and spaces, new products have been added to key categories, including men’s street wear and women’s luxury brands. Women’s luxury brands were dedicated to a new space on the fifth floor and it is also showcased on the new Women’s Creative display on the sixth floor.
Dover Street Market continues to convey the image of fabulous chaos visuals, which was initially created in London by Rei Kawakubo.
