Art Dubai features three gallery programs: Contemporary, Modern and Marker, offering something for every taste.
Art Dubai Contemporary has over the years proven to be extraordinarily diverse. True to its past this year’s program will feature works from 72 galleries representative of 35 countries. Known as a site for discovery and diversity, Art Dubai Contemporary will showcase works by well-known professionals from around the globe, as well as fresh talent from young emerging practitioners. The exhibitions span various types of art including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, video, photography and performance.
Art Dubai Marker, is dedicated to represent Art Dubai as a site for discovery and cross-cultural exchange. Each yeah Art Dubai Marker chooses a particular theme or geography, inviting galleries and art spaces exemplifying that theme. The 2015 theme will be Latin America.
The third program, Art Dubai Modern was recently added as a third gallery hall in 2014 and focuses on modern art.. Regionally and internationally based galleries present works by modern masters from the 20th century. The program will showcase works by artists that have proven to be highly influential in the 20th century, up to the year 2000, and on later generations of artists.
An important division of Art Dubai is its extensive not-for-profit program offering a dynamic range of commissioned projects, film and radio programs, residencies for artists and curators, and educational initiatives for children by professionals. The educational program includes a year-round art school called Campus Art Dubai, as well as an annual exhibition of the works from winners of The Abraaj Group Art Prize. Finally, the program presents the highly praised Global Art Forum.
Functioning as a place for inspiration and insight, the Global Art Forum presents a diverse range of artists, curators, musicians, strategists, thinkers and writers. This year the Global Art Forum will focus on technology and its impact on the world of art and culture.
Art Dubai 2015 will take place from Wednesday 18 March – Saturday 21 March 2015. Stay tuned to fluoro for coverage on Art Dubai 2015.
