Hopare: La Rue a du Charme
French street artist Hopare presents his first Parisian solo exhibition titled La Rue a du Charme.
La Rue a du Charme, (The Street has Charm), is a title derived by the experience of the artist himself. Hopare who has painted in the streets from the age of 12 finds his inspiration there.
For him, the street is a world of its own, a place of exchange, initiation and life.
Across his extensive travels, Hopare mentions he encountered many people, crossing not only their paths but also their eyes, observing their humanity attentively. Regardless of the country he was in, he preserved all the atmospheres and emotions experienced and replicated them in his paintings.
Rich in experience, impression and emotion, he went into the studio and painted his vision of the street and everything he felt during his years of travel, to produce the exhibition La Rue a du Charme. All the pieces reproduce the faces and movement inherited in that universe and all that he experienced there. In the artist’s own words “The street is a gallery… It is my gallery. The street is simply full of charm”. True to this statement, Hopare’s art honours the street and all that it has given him.
The resulting exhibition is a collection of extraordinary works with spontaneous lines, combining power and movement into an aesthetic whole. The portraits are structured by lines and blended with colour in a network from which emerges a timeless expression of anonymous faces.
La Rue a du Charme will take place from Thursday 21 May – Sunday 24 May 2015 at the unusual and contemporary exhibition space at Galerie 42b in Paris, France.
