For over 30 years Swatch has celebrated contemporary art by teaming up with a wide range of artists as part of the Swatch Art Specials Collection.

The artists invited in by Swatch come from various disciplines from painters and designers to musicians and other progressive artists. Each of them are dedicated a platform to illustrate their personal interpretations and passion for ‘art on the wrist’ in the shape of a unique special edition Swatch.

This year Swatch worked with the Venice Biennale to support art and artists at this year’s edition. As part of the initiative and in tradition with its history of artistic collaborations, Swatch presents the first of several Swatch Art Specials, Futuring by Eva & Adele.

EVA & ADELE are known for their eccentric and loud style and art. The duo created the word futuring in 1991, turning future into a verb to refer to an unfinished time that is in the process of developing and revealing itself. The term challenges people to take an active role in shaping their own future such as the artists themselves do every day. Futuring forms the basis of EVA & ADELE’s performance and the unquestioned freedom of sexual self-determination that they represent.

The works of EVA & ADELE has been showcased in museums and galleries across Europe and the world including the Museum of Modern Art PS1 in New York and the Kunsthaus in Zurich. The two are known for creating a museum wherever they visit, and until August 2015, their work and paintings will form a museum in the Swatch Art Specials gallery within the Swatch presence at Arsenale Nord, Venice Biennale. What makes the duo unique is not only their style and artwork but their approach to viewing themselves as art. As such, Eva & Adele, create art and live art in every aspect of their existence. The Swatch Art Special created by EVA & ADELE exists with a gold-coloured, glittery dial background with a message from the artists printed in bright pink letters: World Communicative, Global Plastic, Futuring. The watchcase is created in shiny pink plastic while the straps are made in a transparent pink with a gold-coloured print pattern.

EVA & ADELE consider the watch and its packaging to be a biographical sculpture, conceptual and sensual at the same time and marked by their favourite colour pink. The EVA & ADELE heart-headed logo at the end of the bracelet represents the performative element of their internationally known appearances. The word futuring, which the duo uses as a synonym for performance and art, is printed in the centre of the dial as a symbol of the artists’ avant-garde approach.

Futuring by Eva & Adele is available in a limited and numbered edition of 585 pieces, globally. Each pieces is presented in shiny packaging in pink and gold with the limited edition number featuring on the back of the watch and inside the special packaging.
