Melbourne Writers Festival Simon Callow
Philosophy, love, war, science, the environment and unforgettable stories are the calling cards of the 2012 Melbourne Writers Festival.
Opening Keynote Address, acclaimed British actor, writer and director, Simon Callow is one of over 350 International and local leading writers, thinkers, illustrators and performers who will light up the 11-day event.
Famous for his appearances in major feature films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love, Phantom of the Opera and Amadeus, Simon is also the author of thirteen novels.
Callow’s latest biography, Charles Dickens and the Great Theatre of the World, discusses the importance of theatre to the life and work of one of the greatest storytellers in the English language. This year marks the bicentenary of Charles Dickens’ birth.
Indeed, the life and work of Dickens is a theme Callow continually returns to as both author and actor, and this ongoing engagement informs the sparkling biographical analysis of his latest novel.
The 2012 Melbourne Writers Festival will run from Thursday 23 August – Sunday 2 September 2012.
