Ryan McGinley: Body Loud
Ryan McGinley’s ‘Body Loud’ series of photographs capture a story of summer, youthful beauty and nostalgia.
This selection of images is part of an ongoing project that sees McGinley and his team spend numerous summers on road trips. Capturing images of non-professional models, musicians, and art students, the photographs present an image of a free life. The trips have developed into something that requires planning and professional lighting, however what remains throughout the images is a feeling of spontaneity. The ‘Body Loud’ series were taken over the course of one summer.
Often incorporating his friends within his projects, his images borderline between the staged and spontaneous, capturing the beauty within a moment in time.
McGinley is based in New York, USA. In 2003, aged 25, he held a solo show at the Whitney Museum, which made him one of the youngest artists to have exhibited there.
Ryan McGinley ‘Body Loud’ is on display at Galerie Perrotin, Paris until Saturday 11 January 2014.
